Physics Field Trip

Mr. Murphy's Physics class and some of Mrs. Smith's art students took a field trip to Lake Hope to learn about different species of aquatic life living in an area that can determine the quality of water in that area. The students got to capture and identify different species of aquatic life and then determined if the water quality in that area was healthy dependent on the species they found. Mr. Murphy stated, "The students learned that some species thrive in any environmental conditions, regardless of the water quality. Therefore, the students were looking to identify only those organisms that would survive in clean water." This field trip was in conjunction with the ASER project that the Physics students have been participating in through Ohio University Athens since the beginning of the year. The students have been learning about the PORTS development project and the restructuring/decommissioning of the Portsmouth Atomic Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
